Well, it has been too long since a recent post! And now that it is a month and a half into 2015, it is time for an overdue update!
Animation is finished!
[For the most part :)]
Haha, well, you are never really finished, you just run out of money! Rough cut of the film is locked in place though, which is ENORMOUS! This is a huge step forward for us, that came at no small price. I cannot believe we have been working on this film for as long as we have. It is indeed ambituous, and made by only a handful of people (usually just myself and one other person, but at times only me!).. At no time did we ever have more than 4 or so people working at one time. And I would say around 10 or so total of people have contributed to the actual production. (We'll be able to count more accurately at the end I guess)-- which brings me to a recent conversation I had.
Someone recently told me that somehow the number of people you manage is a direct relationship to how big your personality is. I couldnt disagree more. We have been eating a whale in a bazillion bites, and only with enormous perseverance, extraordinary resilience, great leadership, and the ability to master many things and organize them without drowning or depending on a bazillion people to help - this requires a huge mindset, with a lot of guts and faith in the brains who carry it out.
With that being said, it has not come without agony. More agony than ecstasy, in fact. But so be it. I want to see this film alive. I find myself standing on the shoulders of those who came before me, my heroes, the filmmakers I admire, and trying to do even just half the great work that came before me. To contribute to the great library of cinema, to be in total service to my work, to the art, is an ennobling cause. Preferably with rewarding results, but at the end of the journey, the consequences will be a creation, and I am only the bearer of that message.
The journey has been agony! - With many opportunities to quit, drown, or be overwhelmed by immobility or fear. But at every small success, my resolve goes stronger. If we have made it this far, we can make it to the end. Humans have achieved far more, and ours is a small part, but I find satisfaction in the pursuit, in the contribution.
Dont forget to check out the gallery, I have recently uploaded new images. As mentioned, animation is finished, but now we are faced with the momumental task of lighting, shading, color of everything - the real moment of truth!
The Journey Continues

-Although this is not a political film, the situation in Ukraine has intensified recently, and I am still proud to be making a film about FC Start. To navigate through our website, you can go to our home page here, where we have links to the true story of these brave heroes: thefcstartmovie.com
